10g Hay Powder Trial — For Rabbits That Don’t Eat Enough Hay Ratings: 0 - 0 votes

One small condition

A few days after your sample arrives, we’ll email you one simple question: Was your bunny interested on the first try?

Good, bad, or even “they sniffed it and walked away” —

every bit of feedback helps other rabbit parents.

That’s the only condition.

What 10g will tell you

Roughly a day’s serving for an average-size rabbit. It’s enough to find out whether your bunny likes the taste and texture — but not enough to evaluate any long-term changes. This sample features our Gastrointestinal & Hairball Care formula, one of our most popular hay powder blends. See the full sizes. Ships free from Taiwan.

$5 trial · Free shipping · 100 pouches only

Your rabbit eats the leaves.

And leaves the stems.

Finely ground so the coarse stems disappear into every bite — helping your rabbit get more of the whole hay, not just the soft leaves.

Why only 100?

We prepared 100 samples specifically for this U.S. trial. Each one is packed by hand, and 100 was the most we could prepare without delaying our regular orders.

Samples are first come, first served, with a limit of one per household. Once all 100 are claimed, the offer will close — we’d rather stop there than promise more than we can ship.

Two reasons rabbit parents find us

Chances are, you’re here for one of these two.

A rabbit sitting beside a pile of hay and a small food bowl

They won’t touch the hay

Three brands. Two hay racks. Fewer pellets.

Your rabbit still picks out the soft leaves and leaves the stems behind, and the hay rack looks almost untouched at the end of the day.

A rabbit being brushed during a molt, with loose fur collecting on the floor

It’s molting season

Rabbits swallow loose fur while grooming, and during a heavy molt, they may swallow even more. Keeping hay intake, hydration, and normal gut motility steady becomes especially important during these periods.

Either way, the goal is the same:

help your rabbit get more hay into their daily routine, in a form they’ll actually eat.

Wait — why not just feed hay?

You should.

That’s not in question.

Long-strand hay should be unlimited and always available. The chewing is what wears their teeth down, and nothing ground can do that job. Bubble & Pea Hay Powder does not replace long-strand hay, and we make that clear throughout our website.

The problem isn’t whether hay is available. It’s whether your rabbit is actually eating enough of it.

Hay in the rack isn’t hay in the rabbit.

Picky with hay

Your rabbit still picks out the soft leaves and leaves the stems. You’ve done everything the guides say, and the hay rack still looks almost the same at the end of the day.

They can’t chew it

Older rabbits or rabbits with chewing difficulties may struggle with coarse stems. Finely ground and mixed with water, the same hay is easier to eat.

Not enough hydration

Many rabbits don’t like to drink much water. Mixed with water, hay powder provides fiber and extra moisture in one serving.

The part nobody mentions

The more exciting the food gets, the less appealing plain hay can seem.

Watercolor illustration of a white and fawn rabbit

Pellets, treats, dried fruit. Each one can feel more exciting than a plain piece of hay, and over time, they can shape what your rabbit expects food to taste like. The hay rack gets a little less interesting — and the next thing you offer may need to be even more tempting.

Bubble & Pea is designed to go the other way. The flavor is mild on purpose: closer to hay than to a treat. The fruits and vegetables are there for natural aroma and nutritional variety, not to overpower the natural taste of hay.

A hay-based option designed not to compete with the hay rack.

Why rabbit parents tell us this matters. For rabbits already used to strongly flavored foods, a milder hay-based option may help reduce food selectivity over time. Many customers have reported that once Bubble & Pea became part of their daily routine — or was used in place of pellets — their rabbits began returning to the hay rack more often.

Check the ingredient list

What is your rabbit actually eating?

Pick up the food in your pantry and turn the package over. Is it built around hay and recognizable plant ingredients — or does the ingredient list include grains, soy, flavorings, fillers, and other additives you weren’t expecting?

Never in ours

✗  GMO ingredients, grains, or soy

✗  Artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners

✗  Refined sugar, preservatives, or unnecessary additives

Always in ours

✓  Human-grade, all the way through

✓  Fresh whole foods, low-temperature dried

✓  Up to 40% fruit and vegetable content

✓  High-fiber first-cut timothy as the fiber base

✓  Fine enough for smooth syringe feeding

That’s not just a marketing claim. It’s why the flavor stays mild — nothing is added simply to make it more tempting than hay.

The full list — there is no rest of it

Seven ingredients.

That’s the whole list.
Two of them are the same types of hay you already feed.

First-cut orchard grass and first-cut Timothy hay make up the hay base.

The other five ingredients — apple, pineapple, papaya, red bell pepper, and okra — make up 40% of the blend.

How it’s made

Finely Milled at Low Temperatures

Bubble & Pea hay powder in a wooden spoon, with long-strand hay behind it

Grinding grass small isn’t the same as breaking it down. Our process ruptures the plant cell walls so the contents aren’t locked inside the fiber — and it runs at low temperature, so nothing is cooked off on the way through.

What you notice is the texture. It’s smooth rather than gritty, it mixes to a paste without lumps, and it goes through a feeding syringe without blocking it.

Before any of that: everything is washed in RO-purified water, cut by hand, and dried gently at low temperature on food-grade stainless steel. Then it is milled down to micron scale — which is what makes it absorbable and, as far as a rabbit is concerned, worth eating.

The whole process is written out here.

FormatTexture in practice
Bubble & Pea finely milled hay powderUltra-fine, smooth, easy to syringe-feed
Typical hay powderCoarse and granular, low solubility — tends to clog syringes
Compressed pelletsHard; older pets or weaker chewers may struggle. Needs soaking
Extruded feedSofter, but usually carries the most colorants and additives

It takes about a minute

Weigh. Add water. Stir.

That’s it.

Use a digital scale for accurate portions, then adjust the water ratio depending on how you want to serve it — as hay balls, hay puree, or for syringe feeding.

For Assisted Feeding & Recovery

Easy to mix and syringe-feed for pets that need additional nutritional support during recovery or periods of reduced appetite. Use alongside veterinary care when needed.

Shedding season

Heavy molt?

Think fiber + hydration.

Rabbits naturally swallow loose fur while grooming, and even more during a heavy molt. During shedding season, maintaining good hay intake, hydration, and normal gut movement becomes especially important.

With 27–29% crude fiber, Gastrointestinal & Hairball Care Hay Powder can be mixed with water to provide fiber and extra hydration in one serving.

A rabbit resting beside rabbit grooming tools: clippers, nail scissors, shears, a comb and a brush

What it doesn’t do: dissolve hair or treat a blockage. What it does support is the everyday foundation that matters most — plenty of hay, fiber, and hydration to help swallowed fur move through the digestive tract normally.

Who makes this

A Taiwan-based rabbit and guinea pig nutrition studio, built from years of hands-on care.

The founder of Bubble & Pea at home with her rabbits

✓  Inspired by Bubble & Pea since 2018.Bubble and Pea joined our family in 2018. Caring for them led us to rethink everyday rabbit nutrition and eventually develop our own hay powder formulas.

✓  Made and packed in Taiwan.
Our hay powders are produced in small batches, and every pouch is still packed by hand.

✓  Periodic safety testing.
Selected products are tested for pesticide residues and heavy metals as part of our ongoing quality control.

✓  Covered by product liability insurance.
Our products are insured through Fubon Insurance in Taiwan.

✓  Carefully prepared from recognizable plant ingredients.
Ingredients are washed with RO-purified water, hand-prepared, and gently dried at low temperatures using food-grade stainless-steel equipment.

We never originally planned to build an international brand. Interest from rabbit and guinea pig owners outside Taiwan encouraged us to begin sharing Bubble & Pea overseas. The full version is on our About Us, with how our hay powder is made and why Bubble & Pea went global.

More Than a Brand Name

It all started with Bubble & Pea

Bubble and Pea joined our family through adoption in 2018.

Caring for them changed the way we thought about rabbit nutrition and inspired us to start developing our own hay powder in 2019.

Made with hay, vegetables, herbs and fruits, those early formulas eventually became the foundation of Bubble & Pea.

Bubble, one of the two rescued rabbits the brand is named after, standing up on the grass

Bubble

Came to us with chronic nasal issues and later developed a heart condition at around three years old.

Pea, the other rescued rabbit the brand is named after, looking up close to the camera

Pea

Came to us with spinal and rib injuries. She was also found to have a heart issue at around three years old, but it has not been a major concern in recent years.

Little Otter, a rescued guinea pig who eats the same powder

Little Otter

A rescued guinea pig who came from a breeding facility and was malnourished when he joined our family.

That experience shaped the way we formulate our products: simple, recognizable ingredients chosen for everyday feeding, not just for a longer or more impressive ingredient list.

You can read more about their stories on our About Us.

How Much to Feed

Weigh by Body Weight, Once Daily

Start with the suggested daily amount and monitor your rabbit’s body weight regularly. Adjust the serving as needed based on body condition, appetite, age, and individual nutritional needs.

1 – 2 kg5 – 10 g
2 – 3 kg10 – 15 g
Over 3 kg15 – 20 g

1 yearPrime Adult21 years
2–4 yearsAdult28–42 years
5–11 yearsMature Adult49 –91years
12–14 yearsSenior98–112 years

Around age five, many rabbits begin entering their mature years.
That can be earlier than many owners expect. It’s a good time to pay closer attention to body condition, appetite, mobility, and overall nutrition—even before obvious age-related changes appear.

When to call a vet, not us.
Eating less can be a sign of illness. If your rabbit suddenly eats less, stops eating, or produces fewer droppings, contact a rabbit-experienced veterinarian promptly. This is a supplementary food, not a substitute for veterinary care.

Keep the hay rack full.
This hay powder does not replace unlimited long-strand hay—and it isn’t meant to. Long-strand hay supports normal chewing and dental wear in a way ground hay cannot. Feed it alongside hay, not instead of it.

Before You Decide

Common Questions from Rabbit & Guinea Pig Parents

Q  Why not just feed hay?

You should. Unlimited long-strand hay should always be the foundation of a rabbit’s diet. Bubble & Pea isn’t meant to replace it. It offers hay-based fiber in a soft, easy-to-eat form for rabbits that may not be eating enough hay, while keeping the flavor mild and hay-forward rather than making food even richer or sweeter.

Hay stays the foundation. Hay powder is there to support the routine.

Q  Why is the flavor deliberately mild?

Rabbits can develop strong preferences for richer, more flavorful foods.

When pellets, treats, and dried fruit become more rewarding than hay, plain hay can start to lose its appeal.

That’s why our formula is intentionally mild and hay-forward. Instead of making every bite richer or sweeter, it helps keep the daily diet closer to the natural taste of hay — making it easier to guide picky rabbits back toward a hay-centered routine.

Q  Will my picky rabbit actually eat it?

Many picky rabbits enjoy the soft texture and natural aroma from hay, fruits, and vegetables. The flavor is intentionally mild — appealing enough to encourage interest, without turning it into a strongly flavored treat.

Every rabbit is different, which is exactly why we offer a 10g trial for $5 with shipping included before asking you to commit to a full-size pouch.

Q  Does it dissolve hairballs?

No. It does not dissolve hair or treat a blockage. Its role is to support the daily basics that matter most — a hay-based diet, plenty of fiber, and adequate hydration — so swallowed fur can pass through the digestive tract normally.

Q  Can it replace pellets, or long-strand hay?

It can be used in place of conventional pellets as part of a properly balanced, hay-centered diet. It cannot replace long-strand hay, which provides the physical fiber structure and prolonged chewing that ground hay cannot.

Unlimited long-strand hay and fresh water should always remain the foundation of the diet.

Q  Is it safe for guinea pigs?

Yes. Bubble & Pea Hay Powder is suitable for guinea pigs as a daily supplementary food alongside unlimited long-strand hay and fresh water. It does not replace the need for a balanced guinea pig diet or an appropriate source of vitamin C.

Q  How long does shipping to the US take, and what does it cost?

The 10g trial pouch is $5 with free U.S. shipping, so your total at checkout is just $5.

Trial pouches are shipped from Taiwan via ePacket. Delivery to the U.S. usually takes 7–10 days after shipment, but transit times can vary depending on the destination, customs clearance, and local postal processing.

Tracking information will be emailed once your package is on the way.

For full shipping details, see our Shop Policy.

Q  What’s included in the $5 trial? Is there a catch?

One 10g trial pouch with free U.S. shipping. Your total is just $5 — no subscription, no recurring charges, and nothing renews automatically.

Limited to one per household, 100 pouches total, first come, first served.

10g is meant as a taste test, not a long-term feeding supply — enough to see how your rabbit responds before committing to a full-size pouch.

These are the questions we hear most often. For feeding schedules, storage, mixing, and guinea pig feeding tips, head to our full feeding guide.
